Nate Davis - the Importance of Youth Mentorship (clip)

Alexander Stephens: What do you think is the significance of just being there to listen to what young people have to say and share ideas with them?

Nate Davis: Well, it kept us out of trouble. It kept us out of trouble, you know not just with the police but with other people in the community. They would come up and talk or we would see them on the street or at church and listen and talk with them. We had Boy Scouts. I can’t think of not one Boy Scout troop in this area now. We had Boy Scouts that met at First Baptist Church and that’s why all the guys went. They went to the Boy Scout meetings and did different things. You didn’t have to be a member of the Church if you wanted to join the Scouts.
