- Raney NorwoodDurham Industrial Education Center opened in 1961 and changed its name to Durham Technical Institute in 1965.In 1986, the institution changed its name yet again to Durham Technical Community College. It offers a university transfer program and more than 100 career programs leading to degrees, certificates, and other achievements.
