Terrence Foushee - Sharing his appreciation (clip)
Interviewed by Kathryn Wall on July 23, 2024
Kathryn Wall (KW): Is there anything you’d like to add before we wrap up?
Terrence Foushee (TF): One, I definitely appreciated this conversation because there are so many things that I got to think about and just want to show appreciation for a lot of the teachers, a lot of the Black women that were influential, and for my parents [work] of helping me understand the importance of the community, but also the Marian Cheek Jackson Center, because when I am thinking about how do I connect my students to the community and serve in leadership, the Marian Cheek Jackson Center and the some of the people that I know that worked here over the past. This has always been a very important staple to the community, and I’ve always enjoyed finding a way to connect our students to the Marian Cheek Jackson Center. So the way that y'all preserve history, but also oral history, and with my intersection of working with youth but also being a poet and being in the poetry community, the preservation of oral history is so important to me, so I am just really appreciative of what y’all do.
KW: Well, thank you so much, this has been a wonderful conversation and…
TF: Thank you
KW: I have been really grateful to have gotten to meet you today and spend some time.
TF: I appreciate it, and I love the questions! The questions are phenomenal.
KW: Alright, well I am going to go ahead and turn this off
TF: Alright
