Rani Dasi - On learning to read (clip)

Kathryn Wall: I was wondering if you could start off by telling a little bit about where you grew up and what your early memories of your own education were.

Rani Dasi: Thank you for the question. I’ve talked a lot about one of my earliest memories was sitting on my Mom’s lap and learning how to read. At the time, of course, I didn’t know that’s what I was doing, I was just enjoying being with her. I just remember literally the moment where the characters started to make sense and become words. And, that’s really been pivotal to my inspiration for education is understanding that people learn at different rates and in different ways and the impact of family and support on the success of education.
