Kathryn Wall: What kinds of coalitions do you think could be built or are being built that could be effective?

Rani Dasi: Yeah, so I'll give you a couple examples. One is you know there are some general things like the Boys and Girls Clubs that provides resources and after school care. And the YMCA and some programs that they have. One of things we've done in the district is to, we have a mental health clinic in two of our elementary schools, and what we learned–particularly during Covid–is sometimes the school nurse is the only healthcare provider a child ever sees, and so particularly as we think about the impacts of covid and the mental health consequences we felt like it was really important to invest there. So we partnered with mental health providers to come into the school district and provide care to the students, and importantly not just the students because remember I said its not just the kids its the families too, so how do we support them to be able to support their students. And we've had some good success with that and we continue to be challenged by funding issues, but those are the types of things that would go a long way to improving education outcomes.
