Patricia "Pat" Jackson and William Gattis - On Lincoln High (clip)

Interviewed on March 26, 2025

William Gattis (WG): We’re talking about 1966, because that’s when–well beginning around 1964 is when some of us began to enter the Chapel Hill High System.

Patricia “Pat” Jackson (PJ): This says Lincoln High School in 1962, and see Lincoln High School in 1962 was Lincoln High School. Didn’t have anything to do with Frank Porter Graham.

WG: Frank Porter Graham came much later when they were adding students.

PJ: Exactly.

WG: And so, yeah.

PJ: Yeah, When Dr. Frank Porter Graham was doing his research at the university and working to purchase land off of Merritt Mill Road for his research to work with students that were delayed with children, younger children. Yeah - didn’t have anything to do with Lincoln High.
