Rodney Taylor Sr., a current member and trustee at Barbee’s Chapel Baptist Church, has had a lifelong passion for community involvement. Mr. Taylor was born on June 26, 1958 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. His firsthand relationships and observations of his father, a vocalist in Doug Clark in the Hot Nuts, and his mother, an avid participant in church, imparted to him the values of being an active community member. Taylor discusses some of the key sources of motivation in his life such as family and his strong connection with football, which began at Chapel Hill High School and developed further at Winston Salem State University. As a result of the discipline, work ethic, and passion resulting from his experiences with football and interactions with friends family, his involvement contributing to the Durham-Chapel Hill community takes strong form as a police officer, substitute teacher, and high school football coach.
