Marquette Costen - On moving to North Carolina and what makes a good neighbor
This interview was done as part of the Facing Our Neighbors project. It begins with Costen discussing his respect for Southern women, noting that they can be stronger than men. Costen was originally from Washington, D.C. and moved to North Carolina with his grandmother. He notes the social differences from D.C. and his experiences in North Carolina. Costen also lived in California and Virginia. He is interested in engineering and occasionally audits classes at UNC. He talks about who makes a good neighbor. It is people who are open to new activities and inviting people nearby to potlucks and movie nights, etc. Costen attended St. Joseph CME Church for a while. Costen also speaks on his personal deviant and daredevil behavior.
