Keely Hargraves - On learning how to swim (clip)
Keely Hargraves (KH): So, I learned to swim over here at Hargraves. I was nine-years-old and my sister Sharon started working at the pool, and I’d come over here with her every day and I would just wade around the pool and I would be on one leg thinking I was doing something and finally one day I just started going and I was like you know I’m really getting it in here. So, as the years progress my memories of Hargraves is the pool parties over here as we grew older was the music and we would come and you know we would act like we didn’t want to get thrown in the pool, but that was really the highlight of the party back then. That was really the highlight of the party was getting chased up Lindsay Street or Roberson Street or around the corner and the guys would bring us back and we would be flailing and we would get thrown in the pool in our clothes and we would be mad, kind of.
Crowd member: Sort of, kind of!
KH: Sort of, kind of. I just want to, you know, thank the Jackson Center and, like he said, I hope we are on our way back to being bigger and better. And to piggyback on William, that our generation, I’ll be 56 in ten days, and we definitely need to get involved, everybody. Thank you.
