Patricia "Pat" Jackson - On the F.R. Gilbert Voices of Joy (clip)
Interviewed by Kathryn Wall on September 26, 2023
Patricia “Pat” Jackson (PJ): He again was very instrumental in making sure that the young adults were involved and that year the young adults choir was renamed the “F.R. Gilbert Voices of Joy.” So we have several pictures of that full choir with all of those young adults.
Kathryn Wall (KW): Is that the first time the “Voices of Joy” name was used, or did they use that name without his name attached?
PJ: They used that name without his name attached, but the year, the time that he was here they were the-, well actually they were, and I'll have to share their history, as well, but they were the young adult choir. And during the time that Reverend Gilbert was here they renamed themselves the “F.R. Gilbert Voices of Joy” and presently today they are the “Voices of Joy”, just with the minister's name not associated with it.
KW: But he was a big singer?
PJ: Oh yeah, yep yep.
