Interviewed by Christine Abernathy on October 16, 2024
"She [Sarah Carter] loved the community. She loved people who worked, that worked and needed a ride but did not have transportation."
- Mary Morrow Jones
Mary Morrow Jones shares details of her mother, Sarah Carter who lived and ran a business out of 500 W Rosemary. Carter ran a taxi business, Sarah Carter Enterprises that operated in town and to the airport. The quality and accessibility of the business within the community was very important to her. She split 500 W. Rosemary, half was the business side and the other half was their home. Jones notes that gardening was also important to her mom and they used to be part of the Chapel Hill Flower Ladies. Carter was a very hard worker which was a detriment to her health at times. Mrs. Jones discusses juggling healthcare, insurance, and caregiving.
