Patricia “Pat” Jackson (PJ): We have coming to the mic at this time, Ms. Dorothy Alston.
Dorothy Alston (DA): Good afternoon. I wasn’t gonna come up here but I can’t–
PJ: What’s your name?
DA: Dorothy Alston. I wasn’t going to come up but Hargraves pool has been a big help for my kids. I had six kids and we all had the pleasure also to move uptown from Chapel Hill into Carrboro over on Starlight Drive and I’ve been there like for about 34 years. But Hargraves, every you know year my kids, when they came out of school, and they could come to this pool. In the summer they would always say, “Ma, can we go to the pool.” Well my oldest daughter taught quite a few of my grandkids and my children how to swim in this pool. ‘Cause She would come over here and hadn’t took no swimming lessons, but she would just throw them in the pool and I’m like, “Stop doing that.” But it was a way for them to learn how to swim, so it’s been a big help. Also my youngest son, he’s like 34, Rashae, he used to like to come and play basketball so that was a plus for him in the gym along with Britt and all of them. So I really appreciate, like I said, I didn’t grow up in Chapel Hill, but I really appreciate them having the opportunity to come over here and spend some time at this Center. Thank you.
