Allen Buansi - On his AVID teacher (clip)

Interviewed by Kathryn Wall on September 24, 2024

Allen Buansi: Now, I am also grateful to have had teachers who really, really cared about me. One of my middle school teachers–she was my AVID teacher, Ms. Wiggins. She really took me under her wing starting my sixth-grade year; she had the foresight to welcome me to apply for the AVID program for my seventh-grade year. So through that program, I was able to learn all kinds of skills about note-taking, about organizing my studies, my books, my materials. And it was the lessons I learned then – I mean, I carried those with me going to college, going to law school. So I am eternally grateful for her because she was a teacher that looked out for me early on. So I mean, the combination of having a great teacher, or great teachers, and a parent who is that involved, just meant the world to me.
