Quinton Baker leads a practice protest march

In 1963, CORE leader Floyd McKissick asked Quinton Baker, one of his most trusted organizers, to go to Chapel Hill and teach effective nonviolence tactics to local activists. Here Baker leads a practice protest march.

Quinton Baker, wearing black slacks and a light polo, leads a march training in the old field at First Baptist Church (now the parking lot). Marching behind him is Harold Foster, wearing dark slacks and a light colored short sleeve button up. Next in line is Charlie Foushee, wearing light colored shoes, dark slacks, and a dark short sleeve button up. The next man in line marching is William Carter, wearing dark slacks and a dark button up shirt. Behind him is Judy Booth, wearing a dark skirt and a printed short sleeve blouse.
